The abstract of the item is as follows:
ABSTRACT

This study deals with the differences in epidemiological profile of behavior of drinking under influence of alcohol (DUI) in countries with gross domestic product (GDP) per capita similar to Brazil. For this, there was an analysis of data relating to drinking and driving in Brazil, Lebanon, Russia, Uruguay, Republic of Seychelles, Mexico, Argentina and Turkey. Initially, there was a review, limited to the last ten years, on the basis Virtual Health Library (BVS) and the National Library of Medicine (PubMed). The results indicated that Brazil stood out with a mortality rate in traffic of 22.30 deaths / 100,000, also with absolute number of deaths (36 499) in 2010. Then, we evaluated other parameters that Brazil was not good performance, such as socioeconomic and demographic factors generic; protective factors and intrinsic and extrinsic risk; consumption of alcohol and legal aspects; road safety factors other road safety relevant. As for the lower mortality rates in traffic, the data indicated for the countries studied, appears there is no relationship between greater restrictions blood alcohol limits and road safety, requiring further study of the socio-cultural features of these countries to verify this hypothesis.

 O resumo do respectivo artigo segue abaixo:

RESUMO

O presente estudo versa sobre as diferenças de perfis epidemiológicos do comportamento beber e dirigir (CBD) em países com produto interno bruto (PIB) per capita semelhante ao Brasil. Para isso, fez-se uma análise dos dados referentes a álcool e direção do Brasil, Líbano, Federação Russa, Uruguai, República de Seicheles, México, Argentina e Turquia. Inicialmente, fez-se uma revisão, limitada aos dez últimos anos, nas bases Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e da Biblioteca Nacional de Medicina (PubMed). Os resultados obtidos indicaram que o Brasil se destacou com taxa de mortalidade no trânsito de 22,30 óbitos/100 mil, também com número de óbitos absolutos (36.499) em 2010. Em seguida, foram avaliados outros parâmetros em que o Brasil não teve bom desempenho, tais como: fatores genéricos socioeconômicos e demográficos; fatores de proteção e de risco intrínsecos e extrínsecos; consumo de bebidas alcóolicas e aspectos legais; fatores de segurança viária outros relevantes de segurança viária. Quanto aos menores índices de mortalidade no trânsito, os dados indicaram, para os países analisados, que não há relação entre maiores restrições de limites de alcoolemia e segurança viária, requerendo estudos mais aprofundados entre as características socioculturais destes países para se verificar tal hipótese.
